Your experience is a strength. Let's grow it together.
Midlife and migration are a life stage full of experience, skills and strength. Second Bloom creates space for migrant women aged 40+ to learn together, care for their wellbeing, and grow into leaders in their communities.
What is Second Bloom?
Second Bloom is a one-year European project (September 2026 to August 2027) run by three organisations in Finland, Greece and Denmark.
Many women who move to a new country in midlife carry deep knowledge and life experience. They also face extra barriers to learning, work and community life, such as language, age stereotypes, health changes and caring duties.
We believe wellbeing is a starting point, not an extra. When women feel supported in body and mind, they can take part, learn and lead.
Together with migrant women, we are creating a training programme where participants start as learners and become peer facilitators and wellbeing leaders in their own communities.
We are listening first
Before we design anything, we want to hear from you. In November we are talking with migrant women aged 40+ and with organisations in Denmark, Finland and Greece. What you tell us will shape what the training covers and how it works.
Are you a migrant woman aged 40+?
Join a short conversation, one to one or in a small group. We'd like to hear what helps you feel well, what makes it hard to take part, and what you would like to learn or share.
I'd like to take partDo you work with migrant women?
If your organisation, network or community group works with women from migrant backgrounds, we'd love to learn from your experience and hear what you see in your work.
Talk with usTaking part is voluntary and free. You decide what you share, and we will never ask about your residence status.
Is Second Bloom for you?
Second Bloom is for women who:
- are 40 or older
- have moved to Denmark, Finland or Greece from another country
- want to connect with other women, care for their wellbeing, and share what they know
You don't need any qualifications or experience. You bring your life experience, and that's what matters.
A 40-hour training programme
We are designing the programme together with migrant women in all three countries. It will mix in-person sessions, online sessions and self-study.
Wellbeing in midlife
Understanding the changes of this life stage, including stress, sleep, menopause and energy, and finding what helps.
Confidence and age
Noticing and questioning the messages we've absorbed about age and women, and reconnecting with our strengths.
Leading a group
Facilitation, communication and group skills, including how to hold a safe, respectful circle.
Peer learning and support
Learning from each other, running peer-led sessions, and knowing where to find further help in the community.
